About

My name is Maren Daniels and I am 18 years old, and I am an International Studies major at Maryville College in Eastern Tennessee.

My face! I change my hair color every few moths so this will probably be inaccurate !

I am from the Southwest region of North Carolina, and unfortunately I lived there for most of my life. I am very passionate about social justice, equal rights, and global peacemaking, and I hope to turn that into my career,. I have been an artist since a young age, and I have always loved creating. I love art across all mediums, whether it is digital, sketch, oils, acrylics, watercolors, prints, pottery, sculpture, or photography. Although personally I use oils, acrylics, and sketching, as well as the occasional digital piece. I am a HUGE lover of fantasy and mythical creatures, and they are often the subject of my art. I am heavily influenced by pop culture and most of my art is inspired by World of Warcraft, Star Wars, Dungeons and Dragons, Sailor Moon, Scott Pilgrim, Donnie Darko, The Elder Scrolls, and the Final Fantasy franchise, just to name a few. I love horseback riding, cats, video games, rock music, dragons, Japanese manga and anime, and reptiles. I have two pets, a corgi mix named Bilbo Waggins, and a silver tabby cat named Zizzy.

I used to have a paint horse named Andy, but I had to sell him as I could not afford to take him to college.

I absolutely love lizards, and I am obsessed with geckos and bearded dragons. I don’t have a lizard at the moment, but I hope to have one of my own in the next several months. When I am not drawing or doing homework, I am usually watching TV, playing video games sleeping, or at the barn either riding or caring for horses. I have been riding since I was 6 years old and I have been competing in horse shows since I was about 14 years old. My favorite discipline to ride and compete in is dressage, but I have done eventing and show jumping in the past, and I currently compete in hunt seat shows with the IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association). As well as creating paintings and traditional art, I am also an avid cosplayer. I love to make costumes and wear them to comic and anime conventions, even though I only attend them once a year, twice if I’m lucky. My cosplays usually involve characters from movies, video games, and anime. Some characters that I have cosplayed are Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII, Kiba Inuzuka from Naruto Shippuden, Chloe Price from Life is Strange, Jack Spicer from Xiaolin Showdown, Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance, and Beatrix Kiddo from Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2. All of my costumes are hand made by me, with the exception of my Beatrix Kiddo cosplay, which was a gift from my dad. Since I greatly consider cosplay as a form of art, I will probably post some pictures of them on this blog.
